Solution
The solution was a setup of TVS-672XT and TS-653D NAS as well as a QSW-M408-4C 10GbE switch and QNA-T310G1T, a 10GbE-to-Thunderbolt adapter.
Both NAS devices are equipped with six hard drives that provide ample space and are set up in RAID 5 for protection against disk failure. While Morten uses one NAS as an archive for all his projects, new and old, the other NAS is physically located in another office and backs up his archive, which simplifies his workflow.
Via the QNA-T310G1T, Morten can directly connect to the NAS via Thunderbolt connection and edit 4K video in real-time without needing to create proxy files.
Result
The TVS-672XT and TS-653D secured and safely backed up three years of Marten’s invaluable work of 42TB projects, raw material, images and video files.
With a single archive action, all his old projects are accessible and can easily be found. Plus, all the files are easily reachable through any online device, so he can access his projects whenever he wants.
Morten Hilmer says “Before, it was a bit cumbersome to find the hard drive with a specific file and move it around, but now I just browse online. My workflow became efficient to be able to work faster.”
